“I chose not to go it alone when I fired up my web development and advertising agency and hired Carl Dierschow to coach me through the unforseen challenges all start-ups encounter: Keeping my customers happy, getting the accounting books in order, human resources challenges, maintaining company focus, and product development and positioning. Practically every month something comes up where Carl is instrumental in helping me make the right decision. My business is thriving, and I got there faster with Carl’s help.”
Joe Hyde, Hyde Interactive Inc.
“Carl is a superb coach, he helped to push the limits of my thinking to consider the bigger picture. And he deftly guided me through making some critical decisions that have helped me to better establish my service offerings, which has positively impacted my business.”
Ariana Friedlander, Rosabella Consulting, LLC
“When I first met Carl I was unsure how I might effectively utilize a coaching relationship. The truth is, I had no idea how badly I needed Carl! Where I thought I was proactively developing opportunities for our firm, Carl not only helped me open my eyes to certain short-comings but actually assisted me in implementing tangible resources to better capture, document, and assess my business development strategies. Now I better understand which opportunities have a higher possibility of greater ROI, and spend less time pursuing those with a lower track record of success. Carl has the strength to give you an honest picture of your business, the experience to suggest new and innovative tools for implementation, and the heart to genuinely care about your success. I highly recommend Carl for any business professional who is serious about improving your business and yourself as a business owner.

“Wishing we had met with Carl at the start up of our small business venture. He explains things at a very basic level so even the newest business can understand what it’s all about. When we are able to sign up for this service, Carl will definitely be our go to guy. He is easy to work with and has a great sense of humor! We love that…”

“As a small startup we found working with Carl to be a comfortable and encouraging experience. We weren’t sure how Small Fish techniques would translate into our fledgling business but Carl quickly “connected our dots”. Carl clearly saw our vision and dreams, and his initial assessment provided several immediate action items for us. We are convinced that Carl and Small Fish can jumpstart us with the business acumen we need, keeping us out of the school of hard knocks.”
Betsy and Rocky Craig, CoFounders, MenuTrinfo LLC
“Working with Carl has been a delight, but that’s not really why I’m excited to work with him. The thing I MOST appreciate about Carl is his listening skills and insight. He is able to listen from his depth of experience which makes him a solid sounding board for my ideas, and yet he is also able to to hear the nuances that make my situation unique. I cannot tell you how valuable it is to see my business in a clear mirror! Systems, procedures, and relationship dynamics have all been brought to light and solutions are beginning to become obvious. Plus, I can now see, articulate, and feel the end result and it makes it much easier to bring it into reality!”
“Every small business owner needs a ‘code-breaker’ for his business–someone who can decipher what’s going on in his business. Carl’s been that resource for me! He creates a safe/confidential environment in which we can do work on various aspects of my business. His powerful questions and exercises have strengthened my clarity and my resolve to tackle strategic, operational and relational challenges. This investment in coaching has been invaluable to building my business!”
I am the executive director of a small not for profit business, called China California Heart Watch. China Cal does teaching, clinical care and research regarding heart disease in impoverished regions of western China.
Our small organization is going through the pangs of leadership succession, both on the level of its board of directors and the executive directorship. About six months ago, I was referred to Small Fish coach Carl Dierschow because I wanted advice on how to proceed with these complex changes.
I immediately found Carl very willing to help me and very patient. In short order, he understood the complex problems that our business was having, transitioning from a founder run to a more sustainable organization. Carl and I had about 6 monthly telephone conferences. He was very flexible in arranging these and very tolerant of the fact that many of them occurred during inconvenient times because of the international time difference between China and the United States.
Carl opens his sessions by asking me how things are proceeding from the last meeting and he always remembers better than I what the focus of the last meeting was. He then discusses in depth issues relating to organization, fund raising, personnel and succession of leadership. He wraps up the meeting by asking me what thoughts and actions will result from our session.
Carl was a great help for me and because of his help, I am certain we will move ahead confidently with the transition from founder run to sustainable not for profit organization.
