Business Coaching

There seem to be almost as many versions of what business coaching is as there are business coaches (which is a lot), so here is what we do and why we believe it is the right thing to be doing.

First, what we are not:

  • We are not experts at everything, coming to tell you how to run your business! If you’ve got this far, you have a pretty good idea of what you are doing.
  • Neither are we a magic fairy who can fix everything and get you that Ferrari in our first week of working with you.
  • Nor are we a someone you can delegate a difficult job to (not strictly true but our preference is to help you get it right yourself, rather than remain dependent on us to perform a role in your business)

What we are:

  • Experienced business professionals with access to lots of resources and a proven set of systems and tools who will facilitate a process that will help you improve your business.

That’s not to say that we will do nothing – as I said, we have strong commercial backgrounds, lots of good knowledge of business strategies and lots of good ideas – but the decisions will be yours and the outcomes will be down to you.

It’s a process

As I said, we facilitate and guide you through a process that will help you step out of your business for long enough to work out what needs doing, plan to do it and then will help you make sure you actually get the things done – so you make progress against your plan and actually make the changes to your business that need to be made (if nothing needs to change, please don’t call us!)

Often, business owners are too busy dealing with the normal day-to-day running of a business to pay attention to what needs to be done to drive the business where they want it to go.
The process (and your coach) will help you (force you?) to spend some time on your plan.

Or they are stuck in a mode of operation that they know isn’t quite right for where they want to go but can’t seem to change.
The process, the systems and your coach will help you decide what to do and help you figure out how to make it happen

Or they see an opportunity to grow beyond where the business is now but need that push (or that kick) to seize the opportunity
The process, systems and coach will help you get there.

The sporting coach analogy, though well worn, is apt – the champion’s coach is not necessarily better at the sport than the champion but he helps the champion improve his (or her) performance by what he does know, by his support and by his encouragement and his pushing

The process has three steps:

  • Audit
  • Plan
  • Action

Audit

We assess your business and you for goals, frustrations, opportunities and problems and we ask you a series of questions that test how well you perform on a number of the main drivers of profitability. This gives us a good view of the current situation and a platform from which to build your business strategy.

Plan

The plan is the strategy is writing down where you want to go and what you are going to do to get there. It’s very important – so you remember what needs doing (!), to keep you focused and as a tool to communicate with the stakeholders in your business – staff, partners, customers even.

Action

It’s all to easy to make a plan and get started but to run out of steam. This is the bread and butter part of the process – making sure you keep going, making those changes; implementing those strategies you chose and checking to see if they worked. You could almost think of this part as the single element that makes a Business Coach different from any other type of business consultant – his (or her) focus is firmly on making sure stuff gets done.

How much does Business Coaching cost?

It’s a significant investment, not just of money but of your time and energy.

We have two programs:

Full Program – essentially a weekly coaching program and half program, a fortnightly program.

The Full Program is $2500 per month ($2750 inc GST) and requires your time for 4 half day workshops in the first month or so then one hour per week thereafter. Of course that’s just the time you spend with your coach – you’ll be spending time implementing the things the two of you decide are important as well. It’s up to you and your coach to negotiate how much time you can spend on your business improvement plan.

The half program is $1500 per month ($1650 inc GST) and involves two half-day workshops and one hour every two weeks. This is for smaller, less complex businesses, that can be assessed in a shorter time and for which a less full-on program is still effective.

What to do?

Please don’t just take our word for it. We’re committed to delivering great services to great customers and we’re not into heavy-handed selling or restrictive contracts.

Have a look at our testimonialstry our free business blog to see if you like some of the things we have to say or request a free mini business growth audit and try it for yourself.

The free mini business growth audit is a structured questionnaire to quiz you about your business. It’s like the audit, only in miniature – asking you some of the questions about your business should uncover some ideas for you to make changes which you can go home and use (obviously) and it should also help you decide if you like this coach enough to ask for a proposal for a coaching program.

That’s it – no strings, no hidden agenda – we want to show you how well it works and we think the best way for us to do that is by giving you some of our time for free. If it’s not for you (and it’s not for everybody) then we part, smiling.

Click here and one of our coaches will contact you to arrange your free mini business growth audit.
