Married with 4 children, Jon is a believer in finding the right balance between work and personal life.
Few of us started in business so we could work long hours and miss out
on having a personal life or a family life – yet often that’s what we
do.
Although much of business coaching is about making more money (and
quite right, too)Jon’s clients often find themselves reminded that
their goals included things other than profit and wealth – our coaching
programs need to remember this, too.
Jon has an honours degree in Chemistry but hasn’t used the chemistry
part of it since – except for sometimes reading New Scientist and
settling the odd dispute at parties.
He spent 15 years in the IT and Telecommunications industries working
in various sales, account management and marketing roles and managing
teams of sales professionals. He worked closely with IT solutions
companies, often helping them to set up sales or marketing strategies
that would drive revenue into their businesses. Latterly, he worked at
Optus working with major corporate customers such as AMP and IBM before
leaving to apply some of his commercial experience to small businesses
– where he could see the results his efforts generated and where the
results could be felt by actual people.
Jon believes his strengths are in the obvious sales and marketing areas
but also in strategic thinking and people management. Jon is proud of
his ability to stay focused on a desired outcome.
One of the strengths of Jon’s coaching is his ability to focus on the
main game. Strong, capable business owners still avoid the jobs they
don’t like and still allow themselves to veer away from an unappealing
job – if their coach let’s them! We all avoid doing the things we don’t
like, even if we know they are necessary, and we retreat into the
things we do well or are comfortable with.
The coach’s job is to help you do those things you know you need to do but aren’t.
